Steggles and Sydney Roosters donate more than $250,000 for Australian children's charities this season!

Steggles and Sydney Roosters are marking the team's extraordinary performance this season by donating $260,952 to children's charities through the Steggles Charity Nest.

The Charity Nest sees Steggles donate $1000 for every point the Sydney Roosters beat their opposition by in the 2010 season, with Sydney Roosters also contributing $250 a point.

The $260,952 will go towards building a new facility for Lifestart, buying medical equipment for Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and therapy equipment for Autism SA - just some of the charities that will receive an equal share from the amount raised.

Professor Michelle Haber AM, Executive Director Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research (CCIA) said she was very grateful for the support shown by Steggles and the Roosters.

"Without the support from the community CCIA cannot continue its vital research; research that is making a difference to so many young lives. The funds raised will help us to increase our understanding of the causes of drug resistance and to develop less toxic treatments, which will aid us as we strive to achieve our ultimate goal to find a cure for all children with cancer and eliminate their suffering."

Camp Quality, Royal Children's Hospital Foundation (Working Wonders) in Brisbane and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Perth will also benefit from the Charity Nest.

"This is a significant milestone for Steggles and the Sydney Roosters. We are extremely happy with this result and know the money is being well received by our selected charities to help children and their families around Australia," said Steggles Managing Director, John Camilleri.

Sydney Roosters CEO Steve Noyce added: "The commitment from the players has been brilliant on and off the field. They have played some great games of footy and we are all thrilled to be able to make such a massive donation."

The announcement coincides with a special Charity Week this week hosted by Steggles and the Sydney Roosters featuring a program of fundraising activities to further help the charities.
