Sydney Roosters swap jerseys and raise further funds

This Saturday’s clash between the Sydney Roosters and the Cronulla Sharks is all for a good cause with the Roosters and Steggles hosting the game to raise funds for the four children’s charities the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest supports.

The match is just one of the key events in this year’s annual Steggles Charity Nest Week, which is designed to raise awareness for the charities the fund supports.

The Steggles Roosters Charity Nest has already raised more than $80,000 for children’s charities this year, with Charity Nest Week expected to raise a further $20,000.

The fund supports four children’s charities: Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, Lifestart, Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation Brisbane, and Special Olympics Australia.

The Roosters v. Sharks match this Saturday night at Sydney Football Stadium will see:

• Steggles and the Roosters present a donation of $42,000 to the four children’s charities

• Jersey swap! The Sydney Roosters will replace their Steggles playing jersey with a special Steggles Roosters Charity Nest jersey

• The half time Steggles Chook Raffle will give away a family holiday valued at $4,000. (free tickets available at the gate)

• Children from the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest will run on with the match ball.

For fans who want to support the Charity Nest but can’t make it to this weekend’s game, Steggles is also donating 30 cents from every specially marked Steggles Family Feast chicken sold during the month of August. The initiative is expected to raise $50,000 for the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest alone.

“The Steggles Charity Nest week is a special week for our business. There is a lot of good energy, both on and off the field, and it would be great to see the Roosters get over the line for the charity match game. We have our charities and a few hundred Steggles staff coming to the game to show their support,” said Steggles Brand Manager Celeste Moroney.

Lifestart CEO Suzanne Becker is thrilled with the support the Charity Nest provides: “Congratulations once again to the Steggles Charity Nest for being so generous in supporting children’s charities, including Lifestart. The Charity Nest is a fantastic and inspiring example to others in our community. Lifestart families really appreciate the Charity Nest’s commitment to assisting families and children living with disability or delay. The Steggles Charity Nest’s generous contribution to Lifestart is enabling us to secure a new early childhood intervention centre in Eastern Sydney. Thank you all so much and good luck with the game against the Sharks.”

The Steggles Roosters Charity Nest was launched in February 2010 and has raised over $480,000 for Australian children’s charities. The unique partnership between Steggles and the Sydney Roosters sees Steggles donate $1000 and the Roosters $250 for every winning point to the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest.
