PMHF The Big Walk
On Sunday 3 October a team of over 70 of our Osborne Park Steggles employees, their families and friends laced up their sneakers and took to the paths of Burswood Park in Perth for the Annual John Hughes Big Walk for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. The event was initiated by the Mossman Park Rotary Club in 1996 and is organised to raise money for vital cancer services at the Princess Margaret Hospital as well as other projects supported by the Rotary Club.
Over the past four years the Big Walk has raised over $435,000, and with high expectations for this years event we were not to disappoint. The PMHF set an optimistic fundraising target (excluding registration fees) of $50,000. This year they have beaten all records with over 4,500 participants and raised over $80,000. The "Stegglers" team won the award for the Highest Fundraising Team with a massive $12,250 raised. We would like to thank to all our suppliers and staff for their generous donations. Amalia Malnar (Canteen Managers daughter) was the highest individual fundraiser in the team raising $3,030 and Debbie Ellis (Team Leader - Boning) raised $703.00 Rosanna Beard deserves a special mention for her tireless efforts for coordinating the day and other fundraising events like the bake sale and raffles which together raised over $1,100 towards the team total. Thank you everyone that contributed and for taking the time to be in The Big Walk and for helping make a difference to the lives of the children of Western Australia.
