Roosters announce Ipswich trial

The Dairy Farmers Ipswich Junior Rugby League in partnership with the Sydney Roosters and the RT Edwards Ipswich Jets are pleased to announce a visit to the City of Ipswich by the Sydney Roosters.

The highlight of this visit will be a trial between the Sydney Roosters and the Ipswich Jets. The Sydney Roosters and the Ipswich Junior Rugby League entered into a three-year partnership in 2010. Part of the partnership is for the Roosters to play a trial in Ipswich. This comes to fruition on Saturday, February 5 when the Roosters take on the Ipswich Jets, the premier rugby league team in the City. The game will be held at the North Ipswich Reserve with the curtain-raisers including Cyril Connell Cup and Mal Meninga Cup trial matches between Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast.

While visiting Ipswich, the Sydney Roosters also plan to assist the Ipswich Junior Rugby League with community initiatives including school visits, junior rugby league sign-ons for the 2011 season, visit to the Steggles factory and a business lunch at the Briggs Road Sporting Complex.

Chairman of the Ipswich Junior Rugby League, Brendan Bowers, believes that this will provide a great boost to the increasing numbers of boys and girls playing junior rugby league in Ipswich and the many rugby league volunteers. "The Ipswich Junior Rugby League could not be happier with the efforts, professionalism and willingness of the Roosters to be involved in grass-roots rugby league. They truly are partners with the Ipswich Junior Rugby League in every sense."

Sydney Roosters Football Manager, Luke Ellis said his club was excited about the visit to Ipswich."We are really looking forward to getting to Ipswich and getting involved with the local junior league," he said. "To get out into the grass roots of the sport and talk rugby league is great fun and the game against the Ipswich Jets will be a great opportunity for the Roosters to showcase the partnership that we have created with the Ipswich Junior Rugby League."

Ipswich Jets Chief Executive Officer Brad Wolens said the match was a great opportunity for the Jets to show their support of the Ipswich Junior Rugby League.

Tickets for the game can be purchased from Ticketek. The local Ticketek office in Ipswich is situated at the Briggs Road Sporting Complex, 121-135 Briggs Road, Flinders View. (Home of the Ipswich Junior Rugby League). Tickets go on sale Monday, December 19.
