Do's & Don'ts

Do's & Don'ts

The Australian Poultry Meat Industry would undoubtedly be regarded as operating at world class standards in terms of the quality of the farming, processing and processed chicken meat quality.

From time to time, it has, unfortunately, been incorrectly assumed that the industry uses hormones and steroids in its farming practices.

At Steggles, we can assure consumers that our chickens are raised completely free from added hormones and steroids.

A few other facts: We are proud to say that

We Do

Raise our chickens and turkeys in specifically built poultry houses where they are raised in large barns and have easy access to ample food and water. Our growers monitor the air temperature and humidity within the poultry houses as well as the health and well-being of the chickens.

Feed our chickens and turkeys a balanced nutritious diet that is specially formulated by our nutritionists. Most of the feed is comprised of grains, such as wheat and sorghum, which is Australian grown.

Hatch and rear all our chickens and turkeys in Australia

Regularly inspect our farms for compliance with our own welfare standards and those set by the Federal and State Governments including the Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Domestic Poultry (4th Edition).

We Don't

Keep any of our chickens and turkeys in cages

Use any hormones to promote or enhance the growth of our chickens and turkeys

Use any imported chicken and turkey meat within the business

All Steggles chickens are raised in large barns, and free of any added hormones.
